Gifts That Can Make Dreams Come True

This holiday season, as moviegoers anticipate the release of Wicked: For Good, audiences will once again step into the world of Oz. When was the last time music transported you to another world? By joining our Songbook community, you can help ensure that this music and the stories it carries remain accessible.

You may have experienced the Great American Songbook Foundation in action through watching a film screening, attending an educational program or experiencing a tour.

When you make a gift, you make these events possible!

At the Songbook Foundation, we safeguard classics like The Wizard of Oz and give young performers the chance to reimagine them. This summer, 40 high school students from the Songbook Academy® performed a medley of “Over the Rainbow” and “For Good” – two songs, generations apart, connected by their emotional power and storytelling.

We not only celebrate these important works through performances and by sharing them with the next generation, but we also strive to preserve the artifacts connected to these historic pieces of culture.

Your support helps us protect and showcase these treasures in the Songbook Library & Archives, including artifacts with direct ties to The Wizard of Oz, such as:

Harold Arlen’s 1931 Spinet Piano

The legendary composer (“Get Happy,” “Stormy Weather”) used this instrument to write the music for The Wizard of Oz.

Original Sheet Music for “Over the Rainbow”

This unique artifact lists a song called "The Jitterbug,” which was cut from the movie.

This is the Songbook Foundation in action, bringing the music of the past into the present. But it doesn’t happen by chance – it’s made possible because champions of the arts like you help turn your experience into lasting impact.

With public funding changing, we rely on our supporters to sustain this work. Will you become a donor today by making a gift before December 31? Giving is easy! Supporters can make tax-smart gifts through stock, donor-advised funds and more. Make your gift before the end of the year.

This holiday season, your generosity goes twice as far! New and increased gifts will be matched up to $5,000 by Tim and Karyl McGeath through December 31.

We’ve recently made our system more secure to protect your payment information. If you encounter an issue, please try a different card or visit our Ways to Give page to explore additional options. Thank you for supporting the Songbook Foundation!
