About the Songbook Library & Archives: The Great American Songbook Foundation oversees the Songbook Library & Archives, a vast and growing resource containing recordings, arrangements, images, memorabilia, personal papers and other items from the foundational era of American popular music. The Library & Archives was established to preserve the physical artifacts of the Great American Songbook's creators and performers for the education and benefit of current and future generations. The facility also includes a reference library and study space for researchers who wish to learn more about the music and the culture it has inspired.

About American Archives Month: American Archives Month is celebrated annually in October to raise awareness about the value of archives and the importance of archivists. The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and the Council of State Archivists support the Society of American Archivists (SoSA) in its observance of American Archives Month.

Here at the Great American Songbook Foundation, American Archives Month is a time to celebrate the crucial work of preserving music history. Throughout October, we are highlighting the important archival work that safeguards the stories and legacies of American popular music for future generations. As we continue to expand our preservation efforts, our American Archives Month celebration provides a glimpse into our long-term vision of building a free-standing museum here in Carmel, Indiana, where we can bring American music history to life for all.
