Songbook Foundation Spotlight: Breyanne Urbin

August 18, 2021

Meet Our New Archives Intern: Breyanne!

Breyanne comes to us from the IUPUI Museum Studies program, and we took the opportunity to learn a few fun facts about her that we've shared with you as a Q&A below... a true "Getting to Know You" moment here at the Songbook Foundation!

Q: What is your favorite artist, group or genre of music to listen to right now?

A: My most favorite music genres are rock and pop. Currently, I have been listening a lot to Mika, but also some of my other all-time favorites such as Fall Out Boy and Queen.

Q: What do you hope to learn during your internship with the Great American Songbook Foundation?

A: I hope to gain a great amount of hands-on experience in my internship at the Songbook Foundation and learn more about the daily operations of managing a collection.

Q: Why are you pursuing a degree in museum studies?

A: When I was an undergrad, I worked as a student assistant at the David Owsley Museum of Art at Ball State. During that time, I fell in love with museums and knew that I didn’t want to leave them! From being in museums, I want to preserve the beautiful art created by humans throughout history and educate others on its importance and why it’s so great.

Q: What are your aspirations for the future in museums or archives?

A: In the future, I hope to be able to work in the collections area of either an art museum or a history museum.

Q: Why are you excited to join the Songbook Foundation team?

A: I’m excited to join the Songbook Foundation team because I will get to get my hands into multiple projects at once, which will help me gain a wider scope of skills and knowledge that I can use when working in collections.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: My favorite pastimes are playing video games and making art. When there isn’t an ongoing pandemic, I also like to meet up with my friends for weekly tabletop game nights.

Help us welcome Breyanne to the Songbook Family!
