Collections Highlight: Songbook Holiday Treasures

December 1, 2022

The holidays are a nostalgic time for kids from 1 to 92, and for many people the familiar music played in homes, at shops and on radio continues to have a timeless meaning and resonance each year. Within the stacks and shelves of the Great American Songbook Foundation’s Library & Archives are musical heirlooms including Christmas songs, specials, and films that have become touchstones of American culture. Take a closer look at the most popular song ever recorded (Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas”), Perry Como’s TV special in Israel, arrangements created for Natalie Cole and Andy Williams, and Liza Minnelli’s holiday cards in the Songbook’s Holiday Collections Highlight.
