What things do I need to provide for my classes, i.e. technology requirements?
To use Zoom, you will need access to a computer (preferred) or mobile device with internet access. This is a list of basic system requirements.

  • Screen Size: Zoom is best viewed at a minimum screen size of 11+ inches. If you want to use a device with a smaller screen, we recommend using the mobile apps for Zoom.
  • Operating Systems:
    • macOS 10.13 or newer
    • Windows 10
    • chromeOS
    • Apple iOS or Android
  • Computer Speed and Processor: Use a Mac or PC 5 years old or newer if possible. While it is possible to use an iPad or mobile device, the experience will be better for you on a laptop or desktop. If using a laptop, it should have the following specifications:
    • At least 4GB of RAM
    • At least 2GHz processor
  • Internet Speed
    • Minimum of 1.5Mbps download and 800Kbps upload

NOTE: While we do recommend using a laptop/desktop, if you are planning to use an iPad or mobile device, you will need to download the Zoom mobile app on that device.

If you do not have a computer or mobile device, or have concerns about your internet access during Songbook Academy week, please reach out to a staff member at songbookacademy@thesongbook.org as soon as possible, so that we can assist in determining a solution for you.

If I decline Songbook Academy online, will it impact my potential acceptance to next year's Songbook Academy?
Your decision to participate in this year's Songbook Academy Online will in no way impact your potential acceptance into next year's program.

However, please note that each application process is a fresh start for all applicants and returning alums. Just because you are accepted to the program one year, does not automatically mean that you will be accepted the following season. This is simply due to the fact that the talent represented in our applicant pool is increasingly competitive each year.

Should you decide to decline participation in Songbook Academy Online, please email songbookacademy@thesongbook.org by Monday, April 19th, so that offers can be made to students on our waitlist.
