COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Updates
Updated: April 27, 2020
In light of the ongoing pandemic, the Great American Songbook Foundation is extending its suspension of all educational programming, events and gallery activity through June 30.
The affected programs and visiting hours include:
- Perfect Harmony (all sessions canceled until further notice)
- Songbook Exhibit Gallery closed
Songbook Academy specific updates can be found here. At this time, the program is exploring both in-person and virtual formats for delivering this summer's Academy week. Staff will update families on moving forward with either format, as soon as possible. Please note, acceptance notifications were sent on April 22, 2020 via the Acceptd platform. Feedback will be sent out on or before May 1, 2020.
The decision extends the previous suspension running through May 11. Although the state’s current stay-at-home order expires in May, it is likely to be extended, said Jeffrey C. McDermott, President/CEO of the Great American Songbook Foundation and affiliated Center for the Performing Arts. Also, under the federal guidelines for a staged approach to reopening businesses, performing arts venues would not be among the first to reopen.
The Foundation will continue to follow the guidance of public safety officials and will reassess the suspension as needed.
Although staff are working remotely and not on campus, the business operations of the Songbook Foundation continue during standard business hours. Program participants or visitors with questions or concerns may contact Foundation staff at (317) 844-2251 or info@TheSongbook.org.
